Privacy Notice
Effective 1 January 2026. This notice describes how Lucid Wayfarer handles personal information under the Personal Information Protection Act of the Republic of Korea (PIPA). The short version: we collect as little as the room can run on.
1. What we collect and why
- Contact notes. When you write to the reading desk, we receive your name, email address, and message. Purpose: replying to you and, for corrections, maintaining the accuracy of the shelves. Retention: two years, then deletion.
- Membership records. If you become a member, we hold your name, email, and payment status. Card details are processed by the payment provider and never touch our systems. Purpose: providing paid access and meeting tax-record obligations. Retention: five years for transaction records, as Korean tax law requires; account details are deleted on cancellation.
- Program enrollment. For the Wayfarer Program we additionally keep your weekly exercises and feedback correspondence during the cohort, deleted within one year of completion unless you ask us to keep your completion record.
- Server logs. Standard hosting logs (IP address, pages requested, timestamp) are kept for up to three months for security and abuse prevention.
2. What we do not do
We do not run advertising trackers, sell or rent personal information, build behavioral profiles, or share reader data with the projects profiled on the shelves. Reading the open shelves requires no account and sets no tracking cookies.
3. Legal bases
We process personal information with your consent (contact notes, program work), to perform a contract (membership and program delivery), and to meet legal obligations (tax and accounting records). You may withdraw consent at any time by writing to us; withdrawal does not affect processing already performed.
4. Your rights under PIPA
- To request access to the personal information we hold about you.
- To request correction or deletion of inaccurate or unnecessary records.
- To request suspension of processing, subject to legal retention duties.
- To lodge a complaint with the Personal Information Protection Commission of Korea or the Korea Internet & Security Agency (privacy call center 118).
Requests are answered within ten days. Write to [email protected] or call +82 2-6406-7382 on weekdays.
5. Cross-border readers
The room is operated from Korea and reader data is stored there. If you read from abroad, your use of the contact form or a paid tier involves transferring your information to Korea, which you authorize by submitting it.
6. Security
Access to personal information is limited to the contributors who need it to run the room. Records are stored on encrypted systems, and payment processing is delegated to a provider compliant with applicable card-industry standards.
7. Changes
Changes to this notice are posted on this page with a new effective date and, for material changes, announced on the home page for thirty days.
